Functional AI prototyping: validate before you build
Navigable prototypes connected to real LLMs that let you test an AI use case with users in a matter of days, not months of development.
The problem we solve.
A genuinely functional AI prototype - not just a Figma screen with invented replies - answers in one week the questions that would otherwise take three months: does the model understand your users? Does the flow make sense? Is the latency acceptable? What happens when the LLM gets it wrong?
We build prototypes that actually call Claude, GPT or Gemini, with the context and tools the real product would have, and we test them with real users before investing in the final architecture.
What is included
- Clickable prototypes with a real LLM connected (not simulated data)
- Mocked tools and data so the prototype works without a full backend
- Usability tests with real users on the AI prototype
- Automated evals of model quality for the use case
- Final architecture recommendation based on the learnings
Our process for Functional AI prototyping.
Hypothesis
We define which product question the prototype must answer and what evidence we need.
Build
Prototype in 1-2 weeks with Vercel AI SDK, Streamlit or similar, connected to a real model.
Validation
User tests and technical evals in parallel. A decision to continue, pivot or discard.
Why prototype before building
AI-based products fail more often at the validation stage than traditional products: the model behaves oddly, users don't know when to trust it, latencies surprise you. Catching all of that before an engineering team has sunk three months in is probably the best ROI of any initial AI investment.
